Recognized as an innovator in the field of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Edwin Williams is committed to educating other surgeons and sharing the techniques and procedural approaches learned in his more than 25 years as a facial plastic surgeon.
His academic contributions include authoring and co-authoring academic textbooks, lecturing, and medical education seminars on the topic of facial rejuvenation surgery and rhinoplasty.
He is also considered a leader in research and has been selected by top industry companies, such as the makers of Sculptra® and Dysport®, to perform clinical trials that meet the intense data collection specifications of the Federal Department of Agriculture (FDA).

Dr. Williams' fellowship program offers applicants the opportunity to fine-tune their skills and deepen their knowledge by direct involvement in the services provided by the Williams Center. The program is highly competitive: Some 50 applicants vie for a chance to be mentored and schooled by Dr. Williams. To date, 19 doctors have benefitted from this program since 1999.

Dr. Williams's practice has been an approved National Training Center in the BOTOX® Cosmetic Physician's Network since 2003. He provides training opportunities to physicians in the proper use of BOTOX®.
As former chief of Albany Medical Center's Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division, Dr. Williams continues to teach facial plastic and reconstructive surgery to the hospital's residents and was recently appointed as clinical professor, Department of Surgery.
Dr. Williams is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and fellow of both the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.
He also held the position of clinical instructor and fellow of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Assistant clinical instructor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse.
At numerous seminars held by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Leadership and the Multi-Specialty Foundation for Aesthetic Surgical Excellence, Dr. Williams has offered continuing education on the latest trends in rhinoplasty, including techniques in closed approach advances in rhinoplasty, managing the saddle-nose deformity, long-term success, incorporating structural grafts to achieve long-term results with endonasal rhinoplasty, and how to prevent and address postoperative nasal obstructions following rhinoplasty.
Dr. Williams is also a sought-after presenter and panel participant on successful plastic surgery practice management.
In recognition of his continuing commitment to medical education, Dr. Williams has qualified for the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award (PRA), which acknowledges physicians who demonstrate commitment to patient care through continuing medical education. The PRA recognizes physicians who earn an average of 50 credits per year from educational activities and who demonstrate a commitment to staying current with the advances in biomedical science, as well as other developments in medicine.
Dr. Williams was elected by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) for more than 10 years, serving as president of the AAFPRS from 2015 to 2016.
